Modified Fire Sticks are sold on one promise: everything, for almost nothing. This site explains what they really are, what UK law actually says, and the legitimate ways to watch the same football and films without a letter arriving.
A dodgy stick is an ordinary streaming device — almost always an Amazon Fire TV Stick — loaded with unofficial apps or an illegal IPTV subscription that unlock paid channels such as Sky Sports and TNT Sports without paying the broadcasters. They're also sold as “fully loaded”, “jailbroken” or “unlocked” sticks, usually through Facebook Marketplace, WhatsApp groups or word of mouth.
The stick itself is legal. Using it to watch paid-for TV you haven't paid for is not: it can be an offence under section 297 of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, and people selling them are being jailed. They're also unreliable — streams tend to fail during the biggest matches — and the apps are a known route for malware.

You have not committed an unfixable offence. Reset the device fromSettings → My Fire TV → Reset to Factory Defaults, stop any payments to the seller, and it becomes an ordinary Fire Stick again.
